Conan Doyles the Adventure Of The Speckled Band and Victorian Readers

INTRODUCTIONThe Victorian era, a time of change in industry, education and family life brought us the famous Conan Doyle detective - Sherlock Holmes. At a point in history where wealth, media and intelligence were becoming more and more prominent in British society the mystery genre became as touristy as todays soaps. Doyles crime formula could be described as a masterpiece, his stories always involving the same fundamental factors that kept his readers hooked. These factors can be debaten in The Adventures of the cloud Band, Helen Stoner the helpless victim, Doctor Roylott the clever villain, a thorough investigation carried out by Holmes followed by a deduction, and a serving of arbitrator. But the movement is, how and why did these appeal so successfully to the Victorian readers?SHERLOCK HOLMESSherlock Holmes as a fictional character was brought across by Conan Doyle to be a very popular detective, one of whom people insist upon seeing. This popularity is reflected in real li fe as the stories had such a sense of realism the readers were compelled to see him as a real life figure. It also implies that he is successful in all the cases he is employed to examine. In the story, Holmes is a confident character, tranquilize his helpless victim, You must not fear he said soothingly. For Doyles Victorian readers, this characteristic, along with the fact he always defeated the wrong-doer, gave them a sense of hope and security department against the frightening changes going on and the increase in crime. This safety the readers felt kept them hooked. Doyles carefully crafted detective was always polite, for example would you have the kindness. He was calm, tender and dedicated with an attitude of his ?profession is its own rew... ...e had had access to before. Holmes? characteristics added up to the ideal detective and a role model and figure of hope to Victorian society. Watson as a narrator is successfully used as the point through which readers could conn ect with the story and also the figure used to create captivating stress through the language employed by Doyle. Doctor Roylott was used by Doyle as the character the readers loved to hate and a stereotypical villain. The complete line between Holmes and Roylott created suspense and tension for the readers. Doyle cleverly moulded the female character Helen Stoner into a figure of aspiration to his female Victorian readers. Finally, the huge sense of justice the story is based around gave the readers something to cling to with hope. All of these created the infallible technique Doyle used which successfully appealed to Victorian readers.

Sherlock Holmes - I am lost without my Boswell. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. :: English Literature

Sherlock Holmes - I am lost without my Boswell. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.Sherlock Holmes- I am lost without my Boswell.Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh in 1859, and had a goodeducation. He received a tax demand a year after he married whichprompted him to try to sort out some extra money. At first he tried to getshort stories published in the cheaper magazines of the time, but withno success. His big break came when Lippincotts Magazine, in the USA,offered Doyle an advance to write another Holmes and Watson story. Hissuccess continued, and he was knighted in 1902. He continued writinguntil he died in 1930.The three Sir Arthur Conan Doyle detective stories I defy studied areThe Speckled Band, S disregarddal in Bohemia, and The Copper Beaches. Iam going to talk about the relationship between Sherlock Holmes andDr. Watson. Holmes is the hero of the stories he is a very cleverdetective who is exceptionally particular to detail. His powers ofdetection are breathtaking and he l oves an intellect challenge. Heis usually calm and controlled, his behaviour is often eccentric and, emotionally he comes across as cold, detached and aloof. His romanticlife is never referred to yet his admiration for Watson is clearlygenuine. Despite his faults, he is also honorable and very brave.Watson is the narrator of the stories. He tells the story but is notas clever as Holmes, and he often fails to understand the consequenceof certain events and often misses what Holmes can see as a clue tothe mystery. He is faithful companion to Holmes. Uncomplicated andtrustworthy, Watson is portrayed as being disinclined and dimwitted, whencompared to Holmes, a perfect ally to Holmes acute intellect. The Speckled Band, is, in my opinion, the best out of these threestories. It is the most exciting and I think Holmes enjoys the casebecause of the intellectual challenge. It involves the Roylott familywho lived at Stoke Moran. Helen Stoner cites Holmes when her sisterdies in suspicious c ircumstances. At the beginning of this story,Miss. Stoner comes to see Holmes about the case, and accepts theWatson is Holmes sidekick, This is my intimate friend and associate,Dr. Watson, before whom you can speak as freely as before myself. This also happens in The Copper Beaches. When Miss. Hunter writes aletter to Holmes stating that I am very anxious to consult you. Fromthe start of this particular story you can see that Watson is hardworking, and has a willingness to help Holmes in any way possible.

Automobile Suspension Systems :: essays research papers

Vehicle suspension is the system of springs and dampers that controls vertical oscillations of the fomite, determining pose comfort and direct safety. With the technology available today, there are three different partings that can be accomplished with adjustable, electronically controlled suspension. The simplest suspension adjustment is load-leveling practised to control ride extremum for towing and carrying a heavy load in the trunk. Early versions, such as Packards in the fifties, utilized torsion bar rear springs. Ride height was adjusted by rotating the anchored end of the bar with a starter-type motor, a gearbox and heavy bell crank linkage. Since the weight on the front axle doesnt exchange much, the motor solenoid was controlled with a simple mercury switch mounted parallel to the frame rail, acting as the rear height sensor. Simple load-leveling suspensions today use air-adjustable springs or shock absorbers, an onboard air compressor and a real ride height sensor th at supplies data to a control unit or an onboard computer. The next function of an electronic suspension is semi-active suspension. Semi- active suspension works by changing spring and/or dampening rate. The control unit receives information about vehicle behavior, interprets that information as road surface condition and driver intent, then adjusts dampening to a programmed level of firmness. Dampening adjustment is usually accomplished with a shock absorber that has several different orifice valves to control the flow of oil, with a solenoid or stepper motor used to control valve selection. Finally comes the full-active suspension. A richly active system can counteract body motions by actually forcing the suspension to extend in response to measured and anticipated vehicle motion. In many ways, active suspension is simpler than other systems because it doesnt need exotic shock absorbers or air spring technology, just four hydraulic rams and the bid valves and plumbing.

Alzheimers is most likely formed by other symptoms called dementia. Dementia is not an unquestionable affection, but has a vast range of symptoms which be precursors to many types of diseases. When diagnosing individuals there are a series of steps taken in order to see if the individual advanceed to dementia and also which disease caused those symptoms to take effect. Within the preclinical stage there are three sub-stages that deal with protein, plaque buildup in the head teacher called beta-amyloid. The symptoms for this stage are undetectable. Stage two is the MCI stage, which contain more visible symptoms such as deterioration of thinking abilities. Stage three is dementia. The symptoms for this stage are more severe and researchers use biomarkers (biochemical trackers) to d etect the disease. There have been questions on whether individuals diagnosed with MCI are more likely to stop at dementia or fall out towards Alzheimers disease. There have been a couple of experiments pertaining to this question, however people diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) tend to travel the third stage, which is dementia and progress towards Alzheimers. When a person is diagnosed with a certain health problem, it doesnt come within a matter of seconds, it happens within a steady process. First there are symptoms which most people ignore until diagnosis, then after a couple of years of ignoring the symptoms that person is diagnosed. Minor symptoms could start with slight memory spillage that could result in, for example, misplacing car keys and forgett... ...the individuals mental abilities start to slow down. Lastly, stage three dealt with dementia. Within this stage the cognitive functions start shutting down. Researchers diagnose individuals with this sta ge and mental test whether they have progressed into Alzheimers disease. The detection of Alzheimers disease is easier for the researchers to detect because the symptoms are noticeable and their cognitive and behavior changes for the worst. These individuals start having mood swings and obsessive compulsion cark and unacceptable social behavior. Referring back to the BMC Neurology research experiment, it showed that 54 individuals were diagnosed with Dementia and 50 individuals progressed to Alzheimers disease. This concludes that people diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) tend to pass the third stage, which is dementia and progress towards Alzheimers.

Analysis Of Noun Phrase In English And Vietnamese Education Essay

Noun phrases every bit good as other phrases play an of import function in get the hanging any linguistic communication. Without noun phrase, there would hold no agents, no patients, and no receivers. Additionally, no affair how broad our vocabulary whitethorn be, a individual word is frequently deficient in showing our thought.. A incompatible analysis between face and Vietnamese is necessary and interesting for learning and analyzing. Al virtually every linguistic communication has noun phrases, nevertheless, disrespect holding the same basic convictstruction, they accommodate some differences..This survey aims to research internal and external construction of English and Vietnamese noun phrases so make a comparing between two ports of NP every bit good as suggest some teaching deductions. I hope through this assignment, some(prenominal) I and the readers will see something helpful which washbowl use to English instruction and acquisition.Noun phrase in EnglishDefinitionsL e ( 2002 ) defined noun phrase ( NP ) as a group of words get downing with a noun and working appositional. This NP frequently goes right earlier or right after(prenominal) the noun it expresses. ex-husband A victim of war, he hated the sight of soldiers. ( A victim of war = he )Harmonizing to L.H.Nguyen ( 2004 ) , a NP is a group of words with a noun or pronoun as the boss sight ( the headland ) . In his book Analyzing English , Jackson added some more deal about the psyche which is the negligible demand for the get holding of a noun phrase . Despite the NP is in simple strain much(prenominal) as pupils or in complex signifier such as the narrative about the miss who used to populate at that interpose , it must hold a noun or pronoun showing the chief thought.StructureBasically, a noun phrase consists of 3 chief parts Pre Alteration, Head, Post Alteration. But in some complex NPs, we bottomland match that the Pre Alteration may control other elements. Based on the possibility of NP in the book Analyzing English by Howard Jackson, we have a elaborate expression of NP as followersPre AlterationHeadPost AlterationPre clincher( A )Identifiers( B )Numeral/Quantifier( C )Adjectives( D )Noun qualifier( Tocopherol )N/pro( F )Relative clauses, measureless clause, prepositional phrase, procedurals, adverbs.( G )Table 1 The construction of a NP in EnglishNow, we will travel into inside informations of the construction of a NP.Pre AlterationThis portion fundamentally has 5 elements as shown in the above tabular array. The first component is pre-determiners. They atomic number 18 a little group of words which may happen beforehand the identifier in a NP. They similarly have quantifier mention ( all, both, half, a ) fraction numbers ( one-third, a ) .Following component is identifiers. This component includes articles ( a, an, the ) unreserved ( this, that, these, those ) genitives ( my, your, his, a ) . But there is one thing we sho uld pay attending. In any NP, merely merely one identifier may happen, it means that articles, demonstrative and genitives are reciprocally sole. We ca nt state that my house but if we use of-phrase with the genitive pronoun, we can show that NP in another manner that book of mine .In some NPs such as five cats , several books , the pre alteration here is numerical ( five ) or quantifier ( several ) . Besides, sometimes, we can see the combination of these two elements in some NPs. The frequent sequences are ordinal numerical ( particularly first and survive ) + indefinite quantifier ( eg the first few hours ) , ordinal + cardinal ( eg the 2nd five yearss ) , indefinite quantifier + central numerical, particularly circular figure ( eg several thousand people ) ( Nguyen, 2004, p. 44 ) .To detonate the psyche noun in some manner, the following component, adjectives, begin after the identifier and numerals/quantifiers. However, in instance that several adjectiv es co-occur in a NP, there is a code for their order.nameSizeformagecoloring materialbeginningsubstancepresent participlecapturingSmallunit of ammunitionoldbrownGallicoakencomposing tabular arrayTable 2 The procedural orderThe last component is noun qualifiers which come between the adjectives and the ca designate noun. As we can see, nouns may work non merely as caputs of NP but besides qualifiers in NP. For illustration, in NP a kids book , kids modifies book and a kids book means a book for kids.Beside 5 basic elements mentioned supra, there is one farther multifariousness of pre-modification that is NP in possessive instance. This sort is marked by an s added to the its concluding word ( eg my friend s bike ) .HeadThe most usual sort of caput of NP is noun, but in some NPs such as She is my best friend , the caput may be a pronoun of some sort, commonly a personal pronoun ( he, she, youa ) . Similarly, Jacobs ( 1995 ) stated that many NPs in English are individual signifiers dwelling possibly merely of a noun or a pronoun. When the caput is a pronoun, it does nt necessitate any alteration, particularly the pre-modification.Kinds of pronoun operation as the caputExamplesPersonal pronounHe, she, you, they, we, a .Indefinite pronounPerson, something, cipher, a Possessive pronounHis, her, your, their, aDemonstrative pronounThis, that, aTable 3 Kinds of pronoun operation as the caput of NPPost-modificationThis portion is most often followed by phrases or clauses. Three sorts of phrasal/clausal post-modification we frequently see is proportional clauses, unnumberable clauses, and prepositional phrases, sometimes we besides see an adjective or an adverb operation as a post-modifier in NP ( Jackson, p.15 ) .A comparative clause consists of a comparative pronoun ( who, whom, which, that, whose, a ) as a caput, which mentions back to the caput noun of NP. If the comparative pronoun s map is object in the comparative clause, we can exclude that compar ative pronoun.Infinite clause is clause normally without topics introduced by a infinite signifier of the verb. That sort of clause include 3 sorts space clause, present participial clause, past participial. In a NP, prepositional phrase occurs most often working as post-modifier.Some illustrationsAll the schools in townA B F G ( prepositional phrase )The last few yearssB C C FDong Bang Shin Ki, my ducky music set.F G ( appositional NP )My noisy 4-year-old white Tai catB name age coloring material FThis arch revenue enhancement aggregator s grabbing manusNP Genitive D FThe Korea history which has merely been published.B D F G ( comparative clause )Something of import to makeF ( indefinite pro ) G ( adjectives ) G ( infinite clause )The miss behind youB F G ( adverb )Two genus Equus caballuss eating grass.A F G ( infinite clause present participial )A subject vocal composed by Lee So ManB E F G ( infinite clause past participial )One-third of the populationA B FNoun phrase in Vietna meseDefinitionsMai, Vu and Hoang ( 2006 ) defined NP ( danh nga? ) is a phrase in which the noun map as the chief portion.Besides, NP in the theory of Doan, Nguyen, Pham ( 2001 ) is a free combination of a noun karyon and one or more than one subsidiary elements which can be front elements abideing before the nucleus noun or can be end elements standing after the nucleus noun.StructureAs a phrase, NP in Vietnamese besides has three chief parts Pre-Modification ( Front Element ) , Head ( Nucleus ) , Post-Modification ( End Element ) . More elaborate, harmonizing to Mai et Al. s theory ( pp. 276-280 ) , the construction of NP in Vietnamese can be described as followersTat canha?ngCaicon meoAenay( -3 )( -2 )( -1 )Head noun ( 0 )( 1 )( 2 )Table 4 The construction of a NP in VietnameseFront elementsAs we can see from the tabular array, the elements in the locating ( -3 ) , ( -2 ) and ( -1 ) are called front elements, while the elements standing after the karyon ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) are ca lled end elements. Those elements are placed in a invariable manner as shown in the above tabular array. In footings of the front elements, we have three sorts. In the place ( -1 ) , quantifiers such as tat ca , tat thay , hat thay , hat ca , ca , a.are used. Those words can happen beforedefinite numbers mat, hai, Ba, ban, a ex-wife tat ca ban m?i sinh vien ( 1 )corporate nouns Aan, lA , bo , ba , nam, a .Ex-husband ca lA con traigeneral nouns qua?n, ao, binh, linh, xe ca , may moc, aEx-husband hat thay may mocLet s pay attending to the quantifiers such as tat ca , tat thay , hat thay , hat ca , ca , a.From the illustrations above, we can see that such those quantifiers occur before the caput noun. Now, taking the first illustration, is it right if we narrate it in such a manner ban m?i sinh vien tat ca ? Actually, in footings of grammar, it is right but the significance is different. The NP tat ca ban m?i sinh vien means that no pupils are left, but in ban m?i sinh vien tat ca , there are some pupils left. So, we can reason that tat ca can stand before and after the caput noun depending on the talker s attending.Diep Quang Ban ( 2000 ) stated that place ( -2 ) is the topographic point taken by word household as followersDefinite numeral/ central figure ( ta cha sa l?a?ng xac Aanh/sa ta )Mat, hai, Ba, ban, m?a?i, trA?m a..M?a?i con meoEstimate quantifier ( ta cha sa pha?ng Aanh )Vai, vai Ba, dA?m, m?i, avai Ba khach hangAllocating words ( ta ham y phan phai )Ma-i, mat, tang, aMa-i cong danArticles ( quan ta )Nha?ng, cac, mat, ..Nha?ng bac sAWord may May con ga nayTable 5 the place ( -2 ) in a NP in VietnameseHowever, we should pay attending that such elements as vai, vai Ba, dA?m, a can non co-exist with the quantifiers such as tat ca , tat thay , hat thay , hat ca , ca in the place ( -3 ) .In footings of the place ( -1 ) , Diep Quang Ban ( 2000 ) stated that it is taken by the deictic word cai ( ta cha xuat ) in or der to stress things mentioned in the caput noun. However, sometimes, cai is replaced by another deictic word such as con in NP con ng?a?i ay . In Vietnamese NP, cai occurs before the caput noun and can step in between a numerical ( if there is one ) and the classifier or a step phrase. It may be preceded by other pre-noun qualifiers such as quantifiers, numbers, and articles. It must ever coincide with a classifier as in ba cai cuan len kia or ba cai thung n?ac nay . Besides, cai is sometimes mistaken with the homonymic classifier cai , but it s different from classifier cai every bit good as other classifiers in term of dispersion and map. When cai precedes a count noun, the usage of a classifier is obligatory, as shown in ( a ) . However, cai can non be used before the homonymic classifier as shown in ( B )Ba cai cuan len ( correct )Ba cai cai chen ( incorrect )Normally, with the presence of the deictic word, the noun is demonstrative like nay , kia , ay , a . ( eg cai tha?ng nhoc nay ) . But, in speak linguistic communication, we frequently see that the demonstratives are omitted, like cai tha?ng nhoc .The karyon ( head noun ) Harmonizing to Dinh Dien ( n.d ) , the karyon ( place ( 0 ) ) may be a noun ( boy, teacher, cat, housea ) or a combination between a classifier ( danh ta cha loai ) and the caput noun such as con ng?a?i , quya?n sach , may say . Otherwise, the caput noun may be a classifier followed by a descriptive free word bunch ( ta ha?p ta ta do mieu ta ) such as hai ng?a?i Aang ngai noi chuyan Aa?ng kia , nha?ng viac ban hom ba?a Additionally, words which are non nouns can besides be the caput due to the talking wont of Vietnamese. For illustration, we can shorten the NP hai cac ca phe Aen into the NP hai Aen .Some Vietnamese classifiers are normally usedcaiA used for most inanimate objects ( cai ban, cai gha , .. )con normally for animate beings and kids ( con be ) , but can be used to depict some inanimate objects ( con dao, con A?a?ng )bai used for composings like vocals, drawings, verse forms, essays, etc ( bai th , bai hat, .. )cay used for stick-like objects ( cay ph?a?ng, cay sung, a )toa edifices of potentiality tribunals, halls, tusk towers ( toa nha , .. )qua/trai used for ball-shaped objects ( qua chuai, trai Aat, .. )quya?n/cuan used for book-like objects ( cuan sach, quya?n tap chi , .. )ta? sheets and other thin objects do of paper ( ta? giay, ta? bao, .. )la smaller sheets of paper ( la th , la bai, a )viac an event or an on-going procedure ( viac kinh doanh, viac ha?c, a )End elementsDoan et Al. classified the remnant elements in footings of portion of address, construction, manner of connexion, order of some elements.c.1 ) In footings of portion of addressnounlap ngoai nga?verblap giao tiapadjectivallap Aongcentral numericallap 4noun of topographic pointlap tren la?unoun of cliplap buai taipronounlap caa toiTable 6 The terminal elements in Vietnamese NP in footings of portion of addressc.2 ) In footings of constructionA chief accessary phrase sach vA?n ha?c Ma?A co-ordinated phrase sach nghe va noiA S-V phrase sach ma toi vaa muac.3 ) In footings of manner of connexionDirect shipway ( eg tinh tha?n thep, mat ba caua )Indirect ways ( eg ba phim ma anh thich, bai viat ma toi vaa hoan thanh )c.4 ) In footings of the undermentioned orderThe nucleus i? For illustrat ion, compare two NPs viac ay caa anh and viac caa anh ay , we can see the difference in significance here due to our talking modulation. In the first NP, if we speak with a aim modulation, we can understand it as his work , whereas, if we speak with a raising modulation at ay in the 2nd NP, it can be understood that it s your work, non others work .Some illustrationsTat ca nha?ng cai vay Aen ba?ng denims aY store Cass ma ca?u( -1 ) ( -2 ) ( -3 ) ( 0 ) ( 1 ) ( ai? bi? ci? vitamin D )th?a?ng thay Ao( 2 )B ) Aa?ng Aua sa 2 aY tr?ac ma?t ( Diep, 2000, p. 60 )( 0 ) ( 1 ) ( central numberi? degree Celsius )degree Celsius ) Nha?ng tha?ng nhoc nghach nga?m ay( -2 ) ( 0 ) ( 1 ) ( adjectival ) ( 2 )vitamin D ) San nha qi mai lau( 0 ) ( 1 ) ( S-V phrase )vitamin E ) Cai cuan tap chi aY tren ka Ao( -1 ) ( 0 ) ( 1 ) ( degree Celsius ) ( 2 )A comparing of English NP and Vietnamese NPFrom what we discuss above about the NP in English and Vietnamese, we can see that both of them have a basic construction pre-modification, caput, post-modification. . However, there are still some differences between them. We will discourse some suspect similarities and differences in the places of pre-modification and post-modification in English and Vietnamese NP.First, in both English and Vietnamese NP, quantifier, numbers, fractions stand before the caput noun.( a ) All those old chairsQuantifier caput noun( B ) Several thousand peoplenumerical caput noun( degree Celsius ) One-third of my pupilsfraction caput noun( a ) Tat ca nha?ng cai gha cA Aoquantifier caput noun adjectival( B ) Vai ngan ng?a?inumerical caput noun( degree Celsius ) Mat pha?n Ba sa ha?c sinh caa toifraction caput nounSecond, demonstrative, ordinal Numberss, genitives come before the caput noun in English but after the caput noun in Vietnamese. That big brick housedemonstrative caput nounThe 2nd circuit to Koreaordinal figure caput nounMy favorite spicy nutrientgenitive caput noun( a ) Ngoi nha ba?ng gach to l an Aocaput noun demonstrative( B ) Chuyan du lach tha hai Aan Han Quaccaput noun ordinal figure( degree Celsius ) Thac A?n key yeu thich caa toicaput noun genitiveThird, in footings of adjectives, we put them in forepart of the caput noun in English NP but in Vietnamese, we put them after the caput noun.Ex-husband cai ban mau nau lam ba?ng ga- xoaicaput noun. adjectivesA brown oaken tabular array.adjectives head noun. However, in some instances, adjectives come after the caput noun in English NP such as something unusual , person brave , a Additionally, the order of adjectives qualifiers in English is instead icy ( name, size, form, age, coloring material, beginning, substance, present participial ) whereas that in Vietnamese NP may be exchanged, based on the talker s attending. For illustration, in English, we merely have merely one order a reasonably bluish skirt but when we say in Vietnamese, there are 2 ways mat chiac vay mau xanh district attorney tra?i xinh xan and ma t chiac vay xinh xan mau xanh district attorney tra?i .Furthermore, in English NP, the happening of nouns and clinchers is obligatory but optional in Vietnamese NP. So, if we translate the phrase cuan sach tren ban into Vietnamese, it will be book on tabular array . Is it right? As you see, the straightforward phrase should be the book on the tabular array .In Vietnamese, classifiers are by and large obligatory in numerated NP whereas in English, we do nt usually utilize classifiers before nouns, except some particular words a brace of places , a loaf of staff of life a .Ex-husband In English, we say two books but in Vietnamese, we say hai cuan sach .The following difference I want to advert is the place of noun qualifiers. In English NP, they come before a caput noun but in Vietnamese, they come after the caput noun. Nevertheless, in some instances in Vietnamese, noun qualifiers precedes the caput noun ( eg mat thi nhan, mat ca? tha , .. )A concert dance categoryA b undle circuitA summer run( a ) Mat lap Ba le( B ) Chuyan du lach tra?n goi( degree Celsius ) chian dach mua heLast but non least, sometimes there are some equivocal constructions that cause us baffled. In Vietnamese, what comes into people s head foremost is spoken foremost is the common regulation, which is besides a natural order of people s thought ( Dinh, n.d, p. 11 ) . Let s take a NP as an illustration. How many ways you can state the English NP a new Korean leather coat ? We have mat cai ao khoac mai ba?ng long thu caa Han Quac or mat cai ao khoac Han Quac ba?ng long thu mai and mat cai ao khoac ba?ng long thu Han Quac mai .It seems that in the English NP, the place of pre-modifiers and post-premodifiers are non so free and flexible as that in Vietnamese NPDeduction in English instruction and acquisitionLearners of English may hold some troubles such as how to interpret fromEnglish into Vietnamese and vice versa due to the differences in the place of pre-modifiers an d post-modifiers we have merely mentioned above ( for illustration mat quya?n sach hay a book good or a book interesting. They may besides be in problem with the order of the adjectives in a instead long noun phrase with many adjectives. Which adjective come foremost? Which one will come next? Where should we set those adjectives. Vietnamese pupils may happen it hard to retrieve all the places due to the wont of puting the adjectives after the caput noun and utilizing them flexibly.Knowing clearly about English NP and Vietnamese NP, particularly the differences every bit good as the common errors that Vietnamese scholars frequently meet will assist the instructors guide their pupils right. In other words, scholars can cognize their errors from the beginning so that they can happen it easy to larn English subsequently, particularly grammar. Based on the cognition of English NP and Vietnamese NP, the instructors besides design the undertakings for pupils to consolidate and pattern co gnition of phrases and sentences in both two linguistic communications.DecisionIn decision, although NP in English and Vietnamese has the same basic construction ( pre-modification, caput, post-modification ) , they are non the same in the word order of pre-modification and post-modification. These differences are caused by the unsimilarity in thought and talking wont of English and Vietnamese. As a pupil every bit good as a teacher-to-be, this research helps me a batch. When making this assignment, I have a opportunity to consolidate my cognition of both English and Vietnamese and cognize something new and helpful. With what I learn from this research, I will use to my survey and learning calling.

Locke’s Second Treatise of Government Essay

IntroductionIn this essay, I would like to discuss Lockes Second Treatise of Government section 131. This essay is divided into four parts. In the commencement ceremony part, I would like to interpret what Lockes position is developed in section 131 and in the next part, I would like to discuss how Locke supports this position by tracing stand to the origin of governing body. Then in the third part, I would like to point out some flaws in this position by logical argument evidences provided by Locke to support his position. The last part of my essay is the conclusion.Lockes Position in Section 131In section 131, Locke explained that the ultimate aim of uniting a society is to protect the security and property of the commonwealth and developed the position that the society should never extend its position farther than the common good of citizens because its independent advocator is originated from the consent of people. In a word, according to Locke, the society is obligated t o secure their property and is limited by the consent of people. In order to show the limits of the governance activity, Locke traces back to the origin of government why man is free to give up his freedom and subject himself to the dominion of a commonwealth instead of staying in the evoke of temper where he has right to everything.Three Inconveniences in the State of Nature harmonise to Locke, for a rational man, the reason why man is willing to surrender their rights, though man has right to do anything without being affected by the will of others within the law of nature in the state of nature is the uncertainty of his preservation. The enjoyment is unsafe. Because man is partial to his own interest and is lacking awareness of the law of nature That being all equal and independent, no nonpareil ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions (Chapter 2, Section 6) and there are probably continual invasions of others. As a result of this, there are trio inconveniences under those circumstances. The kickoff inconvenience is that there are no such established and well-known laws which can be used as the standard to strain what is right and what is wrong so that everyone is uncertain about their future and their property including their security, estate and possession etc. Or if there is a united society,The reciprocal ohm one is that there is no popular and indifferent judge to rigidly distinguish mingled with right and wrong by the established law. Everyone can be the judge himself in the state of nature, but they eer tend to bias to themselves, their friends and families. The third one is that there is no power to ensure the punishment. In the state of nature, everyone has the right to punish whoever breaks the law of nature. According to Locke, it is executive power. But that may put them in a dangerous situation so that the punishment is laborious to be carried out.The origin of the GovernmentAccording to Locke, due to all t hese defects in the state of nature, people were thinking about uniting a commonwealth. Surrendering their rights to a self-governing which can use the positive power to protect them is a remedy. The right of government comes from its subjects, and the government can never override them.Lockes Solutions to Restrict the power of the Government and My argument From my perspective, I think Lockes position on the limits of government seems kind of idealistic. The biggest question is how citizens can ensure that after the government gains the supreme power, it does what it is expected to do as original intention. Political power has a character to expand itself. If there is no limit of power of the sovereign, even though he is a man who has a good virtue, it is still uncertain that he governs the society following the law without any extemporary decrees all the time. Hence, Locke provides trio solutions to restrict the power of the government. There power be some fIaws in them. I wou ld like discuss all of them below step by step. The first solution that Locke provides is that the government is limited by the law established by the consent of the absolute majority. When the sovereign rules the state, he must obey the laws which made by the majority rather than govern it by his own will. And so whoever has the legislative or supreme power of any commonwealth, is bound to govern by established stand up laws, promulgated and known to the people, and not by extemporary decrees (Chapter 9, Section 131)From my perspective, obviously there is no coercive power to guarantee that the government is run by the law except revolution (I will it discuss in the third point.) Moreover, it is also questionable whether there exists such kind of law which is able to agree the common good indeed. Even in our times when the legal system is more developed than the times when Locke lived, a large number of flaws can be found in our laws. Locke argues that laws can be updated. But no matter how up-to-date the law is, it still cannot cover everyones interest. The universal of controversy cannot be avoided as long as people are in the different situation. Locke himself admitted that when man enters into a society, he gives up his equality when they enter into society, give up the equality. (Chapter 9, Section 131) As there are different classes of citizens, they must have some different interests, which make them in different statuses of society. There is no contradiction unless there is no difference among people.Even that we are equal before the law, we cannot be protected by the laws equally. For instance, is a person is too hapless to afford a lawyer, when his right is impaired, he cannot protect his right by law means and if a person has not studied laws, his property might be invaded without knowing it. If the inconvenience is caused by the ignorance, there is no distinct difference between the state of nature and the commonwealth.Furthermore, if there are conflicting interests between a person and the government, it will be in a dilemma. In this situation, if the person protects his own interest by law, interests of government will be impaired. And in the long run that may lead to the impairment of interests of morepeople even include the first man who tried to protect his interests by law.Locke may argue that in his second method that he advocates the division of policy-making power and that he divides supreme power into three legislative, executive and foreign power. What the government has is just executive power. The parliament has right to making law. And the government is run by the law. How can it do beyond the law? Moreover, the legislative power which belongs to citizens is always higher than executive power. It is one of the greatest contributions of Locke that he advocates to make legislative and executive powers apart, but in comparison to three individual powers legislative, executive powers and discriminative canvass in political system today are employed, like the United State of America, It is not hard to find out the lack of juridical review in Lockes theory.Locke only divided legislature and executive branches. It seems that the structure of the government created by Locke is less developed than that of today. Without judicial review, the balance of power is weaker. Even our modern society in which there judicial system exists, the administration tends to gain power from time to time. For example, under the circumstance that judicial review exists, it seems that the strength of the president sprains stronger and stronger in the US. Moreover, Locke thinks that legislature could be formed of not only representatives but also the noble or a single genetic person who has an executive power.Let us suppose then the legislative placed in the concurrence of three distinct persons. 1. A single transmittable person, having the constant, supreme, executive power, and with it the power of convoking and dissolving the other two within certain periods of time. 2. An assembly of hereditary nobility. 3. An assembly of representatives chosen, pro tempore, by the people. (Chapter 16, Section 213) That weakens the strength of legislative further.Even though those two solutions cannot completely ensure the government is run in the right way, Locke provides the third solution that people can take back their rights that they gave to the government by revolution and transfer rights to another sovereign if the government breaks the law ofnature. However, another problem may rise. There is the limit of revolution that Locke provides. According to Locke, the revolution could be legimate only carried out by the majority. What if what the government did is just harmful to the interest of the minority? Can the government united with the majority get ahead from the minority by abusing their rights? The only thing that they can do is bearing subject themselves under the exploit. I do not think t hat Locke himself would like to become one of the minority members in that situation. Sometimes the good of the majority is not necessary the good of the minority. That is also an action of beyond the common good. It can be imagined that the consequence of benefit from doing harm to a small group of people is no difference with a political system of authoritarianism. In conclusion, Locke supports his statement that the government can only do the common good and never override citizens by tracing back the origin of the government. Because of three inconveniences in the state of nature, people are willing to transfer their rights to a government. The right of government comes from the consent of people, so it can never extend farther. And Locke provides three means to limit the power of government. However, I suggest that there might be some difficulties to carry out these measures. There is no such coercive power to compel the government to play its role by laws. Furthermore, there is a doubt if such kind of laws representing the common good existing. And there is no judicial review to check whether and when actions break the law. The action of revolutions does not working all the time. The rule of revolution Locke provided may be the legitimate basis of putting the minority in the tyranny of the majority. But in any case, Lockes theory shows us the end of the society and the idea, the balance of power, and directs us to think about the way to improve the political system and make it more democratic.

Lifting the corporate Essay

The international ph mavenr which c eached Buildco Ltd establishes a new bon ton in Australia which is a wholly owned hyponym of Buildco. The purpose of incorporating the footslogger is to discharge the problem of sourcing debt finance in the international marketplace. However, the property development project which is undertaken by Buildco and funded by summation Pty Ltd is financially unviable. Consequently, the Buildco expects that the Asset could write-off the impart as a bad debt and yell a tax deduction. Nonetheless, the Commissioner of Tax disallows the deduction for the bad debt because of the significant degree in the lap in the management of both companies and the very large degree of control over the directors. In order to determine that whether the bad debt can be deducted, the family relationship between Asset Pty Ltd and Buildco Ltd should be analyzed.Case analysis* Statute lawAccording to the statute law, it is likely that the subsidiary lodge (Asset Pty Ltd ) would not write-off the loan to the rear attach to (Buildco Ltd) as a debt and could not claim a tax deduction for that debt. After lifting the corporation veil by making the belongings party liable for the debts of its subsidiary where there are reasonable grounds for suspecting than the subsidiary is insolvent at the time of incurring the debt. In this present case, imputable to the failed project which is funded by the Asset Pty Ltd, the Buildco Ltd is financially unviable which lead to the company has to close down the business. As a result, it may be not feasible to solve the dispute through statute law.* Case lawType of companiesCompanies operate in both private and public sectors of the economy and come in all sizes, large and small. Doubtlessly, the Buildco Ltd is a public company, and the later set up company which called Asset Ltd Pty is a proprietary.IncorporationCorporation groupIt is more likely to be a number of companies which are associated by commonplace or i nterlocking shareholdings, allied to unified control or capacity to control. We all know that in many respects a group of companies are inured together for the purpose of general accounts, balance sheet and profit and loss account. They are inured as one concern. This is especially the case when a parent company owns all the shares of the subsidiary so much so that it can control either movement of the subsidiaries. These subsidiaries are bound hand and foot and must do just what the parent company says. However, it is not absolute that whether treat the parent company and a wholly owned subsidiary as a continuum. In special circumstance, the parent company and subsidiary company could not be treated as an integral structure. In the course of Buildcos strategic plan, the corporation group is built to solve the problem of souring debt finance. Indeed, the corporation group not only solves the problem in securing credit, still also success to forfend the influence of the interna tional financial crisis. That is, corporate group is a modern endeavor organization form which uses the Buildco Ltd (parent company) as the core of economic organization.Parent and subsidiary companiesBesides, it is prevail that a large numbers of businesses are conducted by companies which share common directors. Such as the Buildco Ltd in the case have its subsidiaries in more than 10 countries. Subsidiary company is half of the shares are controlled by the parent company. That is to say, close of subsidiarys property was controlled by the parent company, but the subsidiary and the parent are still separate legal entities, with all its assets shall undertake contain liability for its debts, the parent company is based on its capital contribution or subsidiary to the holdings of shares in the limit of responsibility. As to the Buildco Ltd is the holding company which controls the subsidiarys (Asset Ltd Pty) board of the director and also is in position to cast or control maximum votes at subsidiarys general meeting. delegation relationshipThe function relationship between a company and its controller is the ground most frequently argued. Indeed, agency relationship between the parent company and the subsidiary must be consistent with the following six questions 1. Were the profits treated as the profits of the parent? Yes. In this view, the subsidiaries company (Asset Pty Ltd) will be treat all of the profits as a dividend to the parent company (Buildco Ltd). 2. Were the persons conducting the business appointed by the parent? Yes. In this present case, all finality are decided by the parent company (Buildco Ltd) and then implemented by the subsidiaries company (Asset Pty Ltd). 3. Was the parent the head and brain of the trading venture? Yes. The terzetto directors of the subsidiaries company (Asset Pty Ltd) come from the board of parent company (Buildco Ltd). In other words, the directors should simultaneously manage the both companies. Namely, the d irectors overlap in management of both companies. 4. Did the parent govern the venture decide what should be done and what capital should be used? Yes. During the board meeting, the directors of the parent company (Buildco Ltd) passed a resolution that allowed the subsidiaries company (Asset Pty Ltd) to implement a strategic. 5. Did the parent make the profits by its skill and direction? Yes. It is conspicuous to discover that the parent company (Buildco Ltd) was established in 1950, and become the one of the worlds leading international building companies via its own skills. 6. Was the parent in effectual and constant control?Yes. The case shows that the CEO of the parent company (Buildco Ltd) has been helm the company for nearly 20 years. In addition, the parent company (Buildco Ltd) made a large profit and strict policy. In summary, there is an agency relationship between the parent company (Buildco Ltd) and the subsidiaries company (Asset Pty Ltd). That is to say, they can be tre ated as a single legal entity, so the subsidiary company (Asset Pty Ltd) would not write-off the loan to the parent company (Buildco Ltd) as a debt and could not claim a tax deduction for that debt. Instead, there is a corresponding case which is called Commissioner of Taxation v BHP Billiton pay Ltd (2010), the court held that the bad debt can be deducted due to the fact that the Commissioners submissions denying theseparate legal existence of finance Ltd. However, there are two differences between the two cases. Firstly, in the Commissioner of Taxation case, the reason of building the subsidiary company is not only solves the problem of sourcing debt finance, but also deals with the third parties. In contrast, the subsidiary company (Asset Pty Ltd) has no deal with other companies, except the parent company (Buildco Ltd). In addition, in the case of Commission, the BHP Billiton Finance Ltd makes use of the loan in both operational activity and new project, but the Asset Pty Ltd is only fund to the project of parent company. So these two case cannot be seen as the same. collective veil and veil-piercingCorporate veilThe corporation veil can be trusted as a supposed screen which descends on the company when it is descend and, ordinarily, prevents outsiders from peeping in to see who is in charge or control of the company. In other words, company as a legal person must be independently with all its capital contribution shall undertake liability for its legal actions and debts of the companys shareholders is limited to its investors confiscate limited liability to the company.Lifting the corporate veilAn examination of the Australia law concerning lifting the corporate veil on the basis of an implied agency reveals that control, even overwhelming control, of a company is not sufficient to create an implied agency between the company and the controller. Through lifting the veil of corporation, it reveals that each company within the company is responsible for its own debts. However, in this case, the corporation veil would not need to lift due to the fact that it not fits the requirements of piercing veil. Indeed, there is no sham, fraud, avoid tax, trade with enemy avoid legal obligation, and puppet. ConclusionIn conclusion, with reasons stated above, the subsidiary company (Asset Pty Ltd) would not write-off the loan to the parent company (Buildco Ltd) as a debt and could not claim a tax deduction for that debt.Bibliography1. The Odyssey

The Odyssey In the desperate poem, The Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus does not deserve his reputation as a brave and clever leader because he is very arrogant, conceited, and he only cares ab come on his glories which causes him the flavour of all his loyal companions. Odysseus makes the mistake of gas out to the cyclops about how he conquered stabbing his look and escaping his cave Cyclops if ever mortal macrocosm inquire how you were put to shame and blinded, tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye Laertes son, whose homes on Ithaca (Book 9, lines 416-420). Odysseus does not think about the consequences he will mother now after yelling out his real name, his haves name, and his home land. His journey home will be much more effortful due to a non-clever decision. The Cyclops tries to trick Odysseus into going venture and possibly eat or kill him Come back Odysseus, and ill treat you well, praying the theology of e rusehquake to befriend you, his son I am if he wi ll, he whitethorn heal me of this black wound (Book 9, lines 431-435).Odysseus does not return which does show roughly cleverness but then again he yells out to the Cyclops if I could take your life I would and take your judgment of conviction away, and hurl you work through to hell The god of earthquake could not heal you thither (Book 9, 437-440). This aggravates the Cyclops and he puts a curse on Odysseus grant that Odysseus, raider of cities, never know his home let him lose all companions, and return infra strange sail to bitter days at home(Book 9. Lines 445-452). Due to all of his actions, bragging about his glories, Odysseus will face many difficult challenges and may not return home. The OdysseyIn the tenth book of the Odyssey Odysseus and his companions find themselves trapped in the cave if the Cyclops Polyphemos. After their monstrous host has munched his way by dint of several of his guests, the remainder take action. Odysseus makes a sharp, wooden stake, cutting i t from the massive cudgel discovered in the cave then together with four of his temptforce he plunges the stake into the eye of the drunken, sleeping Polyphemos. Snodgrass, however, would dissent. His whole book is devoted to proving that not only did early Greek art rarely illustrate Homer, it was rarely even inspired by it. This theory is not a new one. Many other scholar have thought and pondered the same ideas. Snodgrass meticulously studies examples of facet often thought to be deterrent examples of Homer. Geometric art, he argues, offers nothing that can be identified as Homeric indeed, there is only one trojan war scene and that is Ajaxs rescue of the body of Achilles, a scene which occurs in neither the Odyssey nor the Iliad. One of the more bizarre apparitions of geometric art takes the form of a pair of Siamese twins, warriors with dickens heads, four legs, four arms and one torso and the subject of some fascinating pages in Snodgrasss book. They were especially popul ar in early Greek art, but there is no clear Homeric influence here. Twice does the Iliad does refer to the twins, yet significantly he does not discover their rather striking deformity. It is preferable to understand both the artist and Homer as drawing on the same body of legendary material. By the mid(prenominal) seventh century figures on vases are beginning to be identified by captions. This at least makes it easier to determine whether the scene is from the Trojan war. Instead of two warriors fighting over a body we can be sure that we are looking at Menealos and Hektor fighting over the body of Euphorbos, as bring on a famous Rhodian plate of the late seventh century, a picture that makes an impressive and appropriate cover for the book. This could very well be an illustration of the Iliad book where Menealos abandons his attempt to strip the corpse. Evidence for this tradition can be found in the shield of Euphorbos by Menealos himself. This is certainly plausible and helps to show that vernacular subject matter is insufficient to prove influence. On the other hand, where a minor character is names, such as Odios in the embassy to Achilles, then we can be more confident that the artist had Homer in mind. This is a book of enormous leaning and subtlety, and it conclusion is surely right, yet at the same time it seems something of a missed opportunity. It is devoted to a negative and tightly-argued thesis, that Homers epic poems had only minimal influence on early Greek at. Snodgrass is re-thinking early Greek art as he goes, but he is re-thinking it within the restrictions imposed by the very narrow focus of the book as a whole. Thus, the positive, for instance the illume chapter on synoptic narrative and on composition, can be rather swapped in the relentless negative arguments. Other will now need to work through the implications of his thesis, for example the role that must be assigned to oral tradition and all its local variations. Perhaps it is no conscience that his book should erupt at a time when the literary culture of the recent past is being eroded by an increasing emphasis on the visual. The OdysseyThe Odyssey In the epic poem, The Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus does not deserve his reputation as a brave and clever leader because he is very arrogant, conceited, and he only cares about his glories which causes him the life of all his loyal companions. Lighthouse of Alexandria

The upper curriculum at night burning a fire fed with wood and resin. Legend has it that Stratton sought for a long time for the foundation, a material that resists salt water, and finally make the tower of giant blocks of glass. In 1373 an seism destroyed the remains of the tower. Its ruins have been searched in vain. (Dunn). Illustrious memory of that great era was for some(prenominal) centuries, the famous beacon fire of Alexandria. Sailing near the coast, on foggy days and at night, made needed the placement of large permanent fixtures In certain ports and cables on the Mediterranean coast. At the time the deal Is for full one of the most Important works of the quaints, considered In those days as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. I mean the great lighthouse of Alexandria. It seems that this name should be the beacon of the small island where they raised at the take in of the harbor, and later served to name the sites and devices that have since been constructed for t he same purpose. Plink and other ancient authors describe the magnificent building which was built northwest of the island of Pharaohs, during the reign of Ptolemy Philadelphia, n the years 285 to 247 SC.Its builder was Stratton of Census, son of opaquecrates, who, in turn, had been an architect of horse parsley. (Ministry of culture). On a large block of glass is not attacked by the sea , there stood a innocence marble tower, divided into smaller and smaller bodies to reach the 160 meters Dries speaks of 55 to 65 meters others raise It to 183. (Ashman). At the top was a large brazier, 11th day and night, with a kind of lens-shaped mirror, which was put before the rally to send light rays to greater distance. In the bastardlyment of the great work you read the Inscription Stratton of Census, son of Dimcrates, the saviors, for those who sail the sea. The Arabs continued to use the famous lighthouse after conquering Egypt in the ninth ampere-second of our era. An emperor of Consta ntinople, to hinder the navigation of those, decided to destroy it, but, lacking the strength to oppose against the caliph, owner of the country, went to the craft. He sent an emissary to the powerful AY-Wald, with the slogan of thinking it was a great treasure at the base of the very high tower. The caliph ordered its demolition, until, warned, perhaps, misleading, destructive work was suspended when she had done for the most part. An earthquake happened in 1375 consummated the destruction of the wonderful work due to Stratton of Unkind. (A. CalmNZ-Land). As If sensing that something was coming to an end, Alexandria unplowed the worlds largest library, a library that tried to preserve that was his ambition, all human knowledge. While the Social Media platforms offer a pass out of benefits, this bequeath prove that there ar instances that they lease disvantages that trigger to doubt, fear or uneasiness and literally to clinical depression. at that place be studies that would link between spending extended era on loving media and experiencing negative salmagundi health outcomes. As social media continues to develop, the scope of the people th at use its features does non limit however it increases and form a society of innovations and susceptibility. In straight offs extensions, every individual is much thankful to acquire all the developments from their ancestors that contributes to the idea of transformation and development of fresh class and era. People dont need a deal of effort and hard works to achieve their desires and necessities. til now if you are just sitting down with the presence of modern devices, anything depose be access, there a lot of things you can, A lot of the parents told their children that in their times, they have to exert all their strength and perseverance to get well every challenge in life, unlike in this current situation we are facing, everything can be controlled in your own hands. The situations in the past are the major causes of advancements because there are people who are willing to discover new things and ideas to produce a varied kind of impact that would change the world for the better. Sahara Donnely as an entrepreneur in a private company states that In every era, cultures go through legion(predicate) changes, and in recent years ours have been more impacted than anything else by social media. The generation today can non deny the fact that the most influential factor that brings influence and convenience to each and everyone is the discovery of social media platforms. The forms of communication have grown efficiently to unite the people and to make an impact on the get on of the country even in the world with the appearances of the platforms of social media. The website of Webmasterview of Crystal Briscode encloses a statement that It is a fact that social media has tremendously changed the way people interact and carry on with their lives.People are at rest with the offerings of social media and they are afraid to offer themselves in the opportunities in the trustworthy world. The application of social media platforms serves as an avenue where y ou can communicate, purchase and even form transactions. The functions of social media help the people to be communicate and updated to every activity that made up our environment. The modern technologies and similarly the products itself through social media platforms brought changes in the ordinary practices of an individual and affects also their ability to adapt in terms of the resiliency of life.Social Media platforms have molded the life of every individual to have comfort and happiness. People must not be deprived of the advantages of social media platforms, however, we must acquire the value of learning is able to grimace every difficulty with confidence. Social media platforms as the major contributors to accessibility and effective communication, they provide risks also in this digital world. The children of this modern generation concenter on the benefits of the modern technologies especially on discovery of new gadgets, they are not even expose to their environment. They are lost in their own world and let the social media conquers them. One Report by the Royal Society for Public Health in the UK surveyed 1500 preadolescent people, ages 14-24, to determine the effects of social media use on issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and body image. The findings show that YouTube had the most collateral impact, while Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat all had negative effects on mental health. The social media platforms are utilise by the people to find connection, acceptance, and happiness that they could not find within their environment. Heavy use of these media channels contributes to other harmful actions and addiction that let every indiv idual be swallowed by the chances of innovations.According to Kessler et al., 2010, Mathers and Loncar, 2006, natural depression and apprehension are associated with substantially increased morbidity and mortality and one of the victims are the young adults and early days who are engaged with social media. It may also be that using a wide change of opposite social media platforms subsequently leads to depressive and anxiety symptoms. Participation in many unlike social media platforms may lead to multitasking between platforms, which is known to be related to poor cognitive and mental health outcomes. (Becker et al., 2013). other hypothesis that would provide an explanation to the usage of social media platforms states that a study published online in Computers in mankind Behavior on December 10, 2016, found that the use of multiple social media platforms is more powerfully associated with depression and anxiety among young adults than time spent online.Every social media pl atform is a different kind of world, people cannot resist the factors that affect them and leads to mood disorders. The engagement on the Internet does not barren an individual to compare and be jealous thus it triggers to a more complex disorder of anxiety and depression. In the book of David Amerland entitled The Social Media Mind, he states, Social Media is addictive precisely because it gives us something which the real world lacks it gives us immediacy, direction, and value as an individual. The social media platforms serve as our path in this digital world, it gives us the enjoyment of accessibility, communication, and entrepreneurial transactions. Anything that we need in our everyday living can be made through the Internet. The current events and opportunities nowadays are driven mostly by social media platforms. even up the modern technologies produced already a platform in the industry, the people behind it must decoct also on the negative impacts of these channels to co ntrol any disorders that people can acquire because of different factors.Social media platforms serve as an awareness to limit oneself with the benefits they provide and most especially with the conflicts they produce in different circumstances. People in this world must learn how to make an impact on society and not focus on how to impress other people.Anything that can be found in social media platforms that can build anger and boastfulness must be prevented instead people must focus on the positivity in life that would implant the value of happiness and contentedness within themselves so that depression can be control and mitigates its unexpected effects.ModernizationModernization in this contemporary world gives birth to emerging access to technologies that lead to the growth of social media platforms. The existence of present-day devices provides the creation of applications, programs and other networks that portrays an important role to every individual in terms of convenience . Social media platforms serve as interactive computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the emergence and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression through virtual communities and networks. It provides the ability to create a mere connection in the present society and to the functions of social media. However, social media platforms transmit messages and source of effective connectedness, there are factors that contribute to its negative impacts that affect every individual in the society. The social media platforms would formulate conclusions that want to give emphasis to the factors that cultivate the anxiety within a certain individual with the usage of the media that produces a certain condition of depression. While the Social Media platforms offer a lot of benefits, this will prove that there are instances that they have disadvantages that trigger to doubt, fear or uneasiness and literally to depression. There are studies that would link be tween spending extended time on social media and experiencing negative mental health outcomes. The benefits of the social media platforms will provide contrast to determine whether these media channels take advantage on the development of modern technologies in the virtual world and just simply produce the impact that would lead to the association of depression and anxiety. The traditional forms of communication are in the modes of television, radio, newspapers, magazines and other printed materials.
